ABB Embedded Power's ProLynx family of DC-DC converters accelerates speed-to-market by reducing the design cycle for applications requiring a wide input voltage tolerance. These high-efficiency, superior thermal derating modules operate over an ultra-wide input range of 9 VIN to 36 VIN and provide a precisely regulated output voltage ranging from 3.0 VDC to 18 VDC, programmable via an external resistor. Ruggedized (-D) versions are capable of operating in extremely high-temperature environments up to 105°C and withstand higher levels of shock and vibration (MIL STD 810F).
Two features added with this family of products are the ability to externally tune the voltage control loop and a variable current limit inversely dependent on output voltage. Other features include remote ON / OFF, adjustable output voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection, and sync capability. The Tunable Loop™ allows the user to optimize the dynamic response of the converter to match the load with a reduced amount of output capacitance, leading to savings on cost and PWB area. AutoLimit enables the module to deliver the maximum possible output power across the entire voltage range. The 9 V to 36 V ProLynx can also be used for negative output-voltage loads through the use of a specific application schematic.
