C&K, a leading international supplier of tact switches, toggle, rocker and pushbutton switches, and smart card interconnect devices, has developed a new series of ultraminiature, low-profile top actuated tact switches. Designated the KMT series, this switch features the industry’s smallest footprint with an integrated actuator (push plate), and a 50% longer operational life as compared to similar products.
With an extended life cycle of 150,000 operations, gold and silver plating options and superior tactile feel, the KMT Series switch measures just 2.6 mm x 3.0 mm x 0.65 mm, with a 0.45 mm body height, 0.20 mm actuator height and 0.13 mm travel. An integrated actuator for simpler button design yields an excellent tactile ratio of 30% minimum, providing sharp feedback. The KMT tactile switches also have a grounding pin option for ESD protection as well as actuation force options of 1.6 N (tactile ratio 30%) for mobile devices and 1.0 N (tactile ratio 10%) for hearing aids and headsets.
