Maxim's PCI Express® (peripheral component interconnect express), officially abbreviated as PCIe®, is a high-speed expansion card interface that connects a computer with its peripherals. It was designed to replace the older parallel formats, PCI, PCI-X, and AGP standards with a serial interface. It is used to link motherboard-mounted peripherals, and as an expansion card interface for add-in boards. The PCIe electrical interface is also used in a variety of other standards, most notably the expresscard laptop expansion card interface. Maxim’s redrivers allow designers to overcome the losses that occur when routing high-speed signals to achieve superior channel performance.

The MAX14954 is a quad equalizer/redriver designed to improve PCI Express® (PCIe) signal integrity by providing programmable input equalization at its receiver and programmable redrive circuitry. The output circuitry re-establishes de-emphasis lost on the board and compensates for circuit-board loss. The device permits optimal placement of key PCIe components. The device is useful with stripline, microstrip printed circuits, and balanced 100 Ω cable. The device is tailored for PCIe and features electrical idle and receiver detection on each channel. It is optimized for PCIe Gen III (8.0 GT/s) and Gen II (5.0 GT/s) data rates, while still handling Gen I (2.5 GT/s).

The MAX14955 dual equalizer/redriver improves PCI Express® (PCIe) signal integrity by providing programmable input equalization. This feature reduces deterministic jitter and redrives circuitry to reestablish de-emphasis, which compensates for circuit-board loss at high frequencies. The device permits optimal placement of key PCIe components and allows for longer runs of stripline, microstrip, or cable. The device contains two identical channels capable of equalizing PCIe Gen III (8 GT/s), Gen II (5 GT/s), and Gen I (2.5 GT/s) signals and features electrical idle and receiver detection.

The MAX4888B dual double-pole/double-throw (2 x DPDT), high-speed passive switches are ideal for switching two half-lanes of PCI Express® (PCIe) data between two possible destinations. These devices feature a dual-digital control input to switch signal paths. The devices are fully specified to operate from a single 3.3 V (typ) power supply. They operate over the -40°C to 85°C extended temperature range.

The MAX4889B high-speed passive switches route PCI Express® (PCIe) data between two possible destinations in desktop or notebook PCs. The MAX4889B is a quad double-pole/double-throw (4 x DPDT) switch ideal for switching four half lanes of PCIe data between two destinations. The MAX4889B features a single-digital control input (SEL) to switch signal paths. The MAX4889B is fully specified to operate from a single 3.3 V (typ) power supply. These devices operate over the -40°C to 85°C extended temperature range.

The MAX14982 integrates MUX and redriver functionalities, offering an all-in-one solution capable of switching between multiple hosts or sinks and overcoming circuit-board losses. The solution is ideal for switching and redriving high-speed PCIe® 5.0 GT/s (gigatransfers per second) signals and operates from a single 3.3 V supply. The IC features bidirectional redrivers with built-in independent programmable equalization, output pre-emphasis, and boost that overcome transmission line noise while preserving signal integrity at the receiver. The MAX14982 utilizes advanced power-saving techniques where power consumption is reduced by entering standby mode when no drive is connected. The device also features flow-through pin-outs to simplify routing and increase layout flexibility.
