FDA217 Dual Photovoltaic MOSFET Driver

IXYS/Littelfuse's FDA217 is a dual photovoltaic MOSFET driver. Each driver consists of one LED optically coupled to a photodiode array. A highly-effective GaAIAs infrared LED at the input controls the driver outputs. The photodiode array is capable of generating a floating power source with voltage and current sufficient to drive high-power MOSFET transistors. In addition, each photodiode array contains an integrated turn-off circuit that discharges the external MOSFET gate when the LED current is removed. This eliminates the need for external components to facilitate discharge.
