Automatic Gain Controllers

Analog Devices' automatic gain controllers, HMC992LP5E and HMC993LP5E, are IF analog-controlled variable gain amplifiers, each composed of two identical voltage variable attenuators in combination with an InGaP HBT gain block MMIC amplifier which operate from 0.1 to 3.0 GHz, and can be controlled to provide anywhere from -10 dB attenuation, to 40 dB of gain. The HMC993LP5E delivers a noise figure of 8 dB in its maximum gain state, with output IP3 of up to +46 dBm. The HMC992LP5E delivers noise figure of 6 dB in its maximum gain state, with output IP3 of up to +40 dBm. Both automatic gain controllers are housed in a RoHS-compliant 5 x 5 mm QFN leadless package and require no external matching components.
