67B Series Hall-Effect Joysticks

Grayhill, Inc. introduces the compact series 67B joystick, a Hall-Effect joystick with a pushbutton and momentary knob rotation for additional interface options. The joystick travels 20 degrees in each X and Y direction as well as momentary rotation around the Z axis. With a 32 mm diameter and requiring just 16 mm behind panel-depth, the 67B is the smallest-joystick to offer this many functions.

A Hall-Effect sensor provides contactless operation, facilitating a long-operational life of over 1 million cycles. The Hall-Effect sensor magnetically detects the shaft position anywhere within its 20-degree field of travel. The on-board micro-controller then produces X, Y coordinates in a range from 0 at center to 50 at the extreme periphery for digital output. It also conserves power by operating at 3 mA max, with a built-in sleep-mode of only 0.1 mA max.

Output is via a built in micro-controller for I²C interface. I²C is a simple and flexible interface bus for communication with other digital devices. Most other joysticks of this size only offer an analog output. The 67B series joystick is designed for panel-mount applications where space is limited. Its integral-mounting flange has 4-threaded mounting holes in a 28 mm square. This compact joystick can provide precise cursor control where other pointing devices are impractical, such as on medical electronics, work vehicles and industrial or robotic control.

Grayhill's proven technology and quality-systems ensure superior performance with minimized costs. The 67B has been fully-tested in ISO/IEC 17025 labs to achieve electrical and environmental specs including: environmental seal: IP67 with optional sealing boot and operating temperature range: -40°C to 85°C.

Part number 67B-RA-3C-S-04C is a full-feature standard version with 2-axes joystick, momentary rotation, center pushbutton, a sealing boot, 3.3 V input and I²C output via a 4 inch cable and connector. Connection options include a 0.05-inch centerline pin header or a connector and cable assembly. A standard knob is offered as part: 677702.
