AKM Semiconductor Inc's EM3242 outputs an analog voltage level proportionate to its angle relative to a magnet by processing a hall output obtained from multiple hall elements formed on the chip’s silicon. By simply pairing a small magnet and the EM3242, a contact-less, 360 degree angular sensor function can be achieved. There are no particular restrictions on the magnet chosen to work together with the EM3242 and there is little change in the output voltage levels or angle accuracy due to the temperature dependence of the magnet.
