Toshiba's low-dropout voltage regulator LDO is ideal for battery-powered and small form-factor (ie. handheld) systems. It is a 500 mA, ultra-low dropout LDO. The ultra-low dropout is made possible with the addition of a “bias” pin, which draws minimal power from a common 2.5 V to 3.3 V rail. It is ideal for WIFI chipsets, cameras, and any application that needs an LDO where battery power is critical.
When biased by a 3.3 V rail, TCR5AM11 has a typical dropout voltage of 90 mV for 300 mA loads. That’s only 27 mW of waste! The features include high-PSRR and low-noise voltage. It is also an incredibly small part with a 1.2 mm x 1.2 mm package. This LDO is currently available in 1.1 V output voltage, but this is a fixed-output LDO that will be available in 0.55 V to 3.6 V outputs.
