AEDR-87xx Encoders

Broadcom Limited’s AEDR-87xx is a miniature three-channel reflective optical encoder device providing dual channel digital outputs and an index channel digital output. With encoding resolution up to 318 lines per inch (LPI) and built-in 4x, 8x, and 16x interpolation, the device enables great flexibility and versatility in resolution range. The quadrature (AB) digital outputs are TTL-compatible, enabling the device to interface directly with many digital signal processors (DSP) and host processors. The device can be easily designed in and integrated into existing motion control system.

AEDR-8723 providing the two channels differential analog and a third digital index output. The differential analog outputs (Sin, /Sin, Cos, /Cos) can be interfaced directly with most of the external interpolators available.

The AEDR-87xx houses an LED light source and a photo-detecting circuitry in a compact package. The miniature package is coupled with a low operating 3.3 V option that allows the device to be used in a wide range of space-constrained, low-power applications like portable devices in which space and power dissipation are primary concern. The device is designed to operate over a -20°C to 85°C temperature range suitable for both commercial and industrial end applications.
