By combining an NFC interface with a contact I2C interface, the NXP NTAG I2C solution enables new kinds of NFC tags interactions, including advanced device pairing and device configuration and maintenance.
NXP's NTAG I2C solution includes a passive NFC forum type 2 tag RF interface, an EEPROM, a field detection function, and a slave I2C interface. The NTAG I2C supports full bi-directional communication between an NFC-enabled device and the host system’s microcontroller enhanced by its SRAM buffer to provide fast data exchange speed between I2C and NFC. Particularly easy to integrate and offering the maximum interoperability with NFC devices, NTAG I2C is as well ideally suited for low-power operations thanks to its non-volatile memory and its energy harvesting mode that enables to power external components (like a MCU) with the Energy of the RF field only.
