3D50 Series Rugged 5-Inch CAN-Bus Touchscreen

Grayhill introduces their 5-inch touchscreen display for construction and agriculture vehicles. The 3D50 series combines a powerful processor with software tools for developing custom graphics, text messages, and gauges for monitoring and interacting with an off-highway vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU) and other onboard systems.

The series features intuitive touch technology to select objects and swipe through screens. An advanced touch sensor automatically recognizes bare and gloved hands, even when the display surface is wet. Utilizing a 5-inch backlit WVGA LCD, users benefit from the high contrast text and graphics for excellent sunlight readability. A scratch-resistant, anti-glare window is optically bonded to the LCD to protect it and enhance optical characteristics.

Creating a custom user experience is easy with the options offered. For software developers, Grayhill offers Qt a trusted cross-platform development solution. Programmers can quickly create applications that will run on the 3D50 series display and interact with other elements of their on-board system such as ECUs, cameras, discrete I/O, and other J1939 devices.

For users with minimal programming experience, Grayhill’s proprietary VUI Builder is a software tool designed for quick and easy development. VUI Builder is used to create screens and graphic objects that display real-time gauge data, alert messages, clocks/run meters, diagnostics, maintenance information, machine setups, and operator instructions.

Application development is easy with sample applications and a development kit that includes a USB to Ethernet adapter for easy PC connectivity. The development kit includes a flush-mounted display that seamlessly integrates into any cab design.

To benefit OEM and aftermarket customers, the 3D50 series touchscreens are available in three standard configurations: 1) RS-232, USB and 1 CAN port 2) with the addition of a second CAN port, 2 video connections and I/O, or 3) with the addition of a projected capacitive touchscreen.

Grayhill’s 3D series CAN-bus displays are built for the rugged conditions and harsh environments common in agriculture and construction vehicles. All displays in the 3D series undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet the appropriate ISO and ANSI specifications, such as environmental seal, temperature range, and electrical conditions.
