Dual Function Varistors

KEMET's SMD and through-hole dual function varistors protect circuits from high energy discharges. The dual-function VM and VK series, which integrate a capacitor to suppress interference from devices such as DC electric motors, are ideal for protecting sensitive automotive electronics against electric-motor noise as well as potentially damaging, high-energy transients. The surface-mount VA series is also targeted at automotive applications. The plastic-encapsulated VP series have superior humidity resistance for use in medical instruments and equipment such as outdoor, mobile-communications infrastructures and professional or consumer white goods. The VC and high-temperature (up to 150°C) VE series are ideal for the suppression of inductive switching and other transient events.

The VG series has a capacitance of less than 400 pF and is ideal for protecting high-speed I/O lines. The through-hole, dual-function VM and VK series, and the surface-mount VA, VC, VE, and VG varistors are AEC-Q200 qualified.
