PowerLife™ Coils Powered by NuCurrent® Techno

Smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices are becoming increasingly thinner and lighter in weight, but the need to balance this trend with higher Q performance inevitably leads to increased thickness and size. This places limitations on device designers as internal real estate shrinks. Molex's PowerLife standard and custom wireless power coils with NuCurrent technology offer device OEMs a compact coil with the highest Q in the industry for etched circuitry. As a result, designers will be able to offer wireless charging while still meeting marketplace demands for compact devices.

Wireless power antennas with wire-wound coils have dominated the marketplace so far, but they require wide electrical tolerances. Also, they are difficult to integrate with the system and are less reliable due to secondary connections and susceptibility to heat, vibration, and shock. The longevity and robustness of these coils make them ideal for in-vehicle, industrial, and medical applications.

Wireless power antennas are currently customized products because of each customer’s unique design environment (stack up), which results in premium pricing. PowerLife standard and custom wireless power coils with NuCurrent technology offer a standard product that provides quick turnaround, greater efficiency, and more reliable technology combined with less expensive fabrication techniques. Engineers who need a readily available wireless power antenna for evaluation will find a standard solution and return for customization.
