Utilizing Microchip-based development tool lighting solutions enables innovation that expands lighting product capabilities and reduces time to market. All boards are available individually or as starter kits to begin developing quickly. For further ease in development, code libraries for both DMX512A and DALI are available as FREE downloads. Intelligent lighting and control solutions from Microchip can meet the technical needs of lighting engineers with a large array of 8-, 16-, or 32-bit PIC® microcontrollers, analog, wireless, and human interface products. With advanced peripheral integration and support for all lighting technologies, including LED and fluorescent, a scalable Microchip solution provides significant flexibility versus that of pure analog or ASIC implementation.

The lighting communications development platform provides a universal lighting development platform for the creation of communications-enabled lighting applications. The platform consists of a main board and various communications interface adapters to support in the development of DALI and DMX512A, as well as future protocols (for example RF). To utilize the communications platform, a minimum of two main or two prototyping boards and two adapters connected via appropriate cabling (for example, RJ45 patch cable, DMX512A 5-pin barrel cable, or DALI 2-wire) are required. The communication platform is compatible with commercially available DALI and DMX512A products and can be integrated into existing lighting networks during development or utilized with multiple communication platforms to simulate large lighting networks.
