The Microchip PIC32MM GPM and GPL series of 32-bit microcontrollers are the lowest-power and most cost-effective family of 32-bit PIC32 microcontrollers today. This family bridges the gap between Microchip’s popular PIC24F XLP and PIC32MX families. For applications demanding longer battery life and smaller form factors, the PIC32MM devices offer sleep modes down to 500 nA and packages as small as 4 mm x 4 mm QFN IC package. The devices include core independent peripherals, designed to offload the CPU for lower power and flexible system design, such as configurable logic cells (CLC) and multiple-output capture compare PWMs (MCCPs), which help enable sensorless BLDC motor control applications and at the same time, offload the CPU to perform other tasks. Compact microMIPS™ instructions, microAptiv™ UC core, and a shadow register set enable a 79 CoreMark™ score at 25 MHz. The microMIPS ISA combines 16-bit and 32-bit instructions for compact code size. These devices are supported by Microchip’s MPLAB® code configurator (MCC) to help simplify designs. With the inclusion of several connectivity options, core independent peripherals and feature-rich development boards like the PIC32MM USB curiosity board, the GPM MCUs are well suited for digital audio applications, gaming/entertainment devices, IoT sensor nodes, and portable medical devices.
