Samsung Electro-Mechanics uses its unique material and process in its high-performance ASR (anti-sulfur resistors) to guarantee excellent anti-sulfur performance by adopting the highest corrosion test conditions (105°C/720 hr). Samsung protects sulfurization of high chip resistors when the emission is increasing worldwide.
Silver is the most commonly used material for electrodes for the design of chip resistors. However, when silver is exposed to sulfur in the polluted environment, it converts to silver sulfide and makes electrodes open circuit. To protect this failure mode in high-reliability products that are exposed to the environment, a special material and process are used to make ASR.
The anti-sulfur chip resistors of Samsung Electro-Mechanics are developed based on the company’s own material and design technologies. Samsung ships its parts only after successfully conducting austere in-house corrosion tests at least 2,400 hours.
