ADI's Circuits from the Lab circuit note CN-0398 features the evaluation board EVAL-CN0398-ARDZ to be used with the Arduino-compatible platform EVAL-ADICUP360. The EVAL-ADICUP is an ARM® Cortex®-M3 board Arduino-compatible solution that offers a lot of flexibility with the different shields available.

The CN-0398 is a complete soil moisture and pH measurement system and features temperature compensation. It features the AD7124, an 8-channel, 24-bit Σ-Δ ADC with PGA and reference as well as the ADA4661, an 18 V precision 4 MHz, CMOS rail-to-rail input/output operational amplifier (OP AMP). There is also the ADP7118 which is a 20 V 200 mA CMOS low drop out (LDO) linear regulator and finally the ADR3433, which is a high accuracy voltage reference.

CN-0398 was designed to be used with capacitive soil moisture sensor that can handle corrosive environments that have high water salinity. This low power system uses an extremely low 1.95 mA of current. CN-0398 is ideal for battery, handheld, and test for agriculture applications.
