AL1788 Off-Line LED Driver

Diodes' AL1788 is a high-performance AC/DC power factor correction (PFC) controller targeted at smart connected LED lighting and IoT applications. Based on primary side regulation (PSR) implementation, AL1788 does not require an optocoupler or any secondary feedback circuit to save overall BOM cost. It operates at quasi-resonant (QR) mode where the MOSFET is turned on at the valley of the drain voltage, which minimizes switching loss to result in high efficiency.

Operating in both flyback and buck topologies, the AL1788 system supports high efficiency isolated and non-isolated lamp/IoT configurations respectively. The AL1788 incorporates overvoltage, overcurrent, and short-circuit protection as well as overtemperature protections resulting in a robust solution.
