MLX90632 Miniature Far Infrared (FIR) Sensors

Melexis' MLX90632 is a FIR sensor that includes the sensor element, signal processing, digital interface, and optics thereby allowing rapid and simple integration into a wide variety of modern applications. An optical filter (long-wave pass) that cuts off the visible and near infrared radiant flux is integrated in the sensor to provide ambient light immunity. The wavelength pass band of this optical filter is from 2 μm to 14 μm. This sensor comes in an ultra-small, 3 mm x 3 mm x 1 mm QFN package, is factory calibrated with I2C digital interface, and has a 50° field of view. This highly accurate sensor delivers high levels of thermal stability when experiencing thermal gradients and rapid temperature changes, thus solving a well-known weakness of existing infrared sensors.
