UMA Series Safety Mats

Omron’s UMA series safety mats offer quick connect M8 connectors that easily conceal beneath the trim for easier installation and quick replacement. One or two cable options offer layout simplicity and flexibility. The system can be used with the MC3 and MC6 4-wire controller; UMA mats can also be directly connected to NX-S or G9SP programmable safety controllers eliminating the need to intermediate controllers. Up to 12 mats can be connected in series to one controller.

Safety mats are ideally suited for harsh environments where other safety devices, such as laser scanners and light curtains, can false trip. It can be used in two ways: one can continuously sense a person anywhere in the cell and prevent the machine from starting up until the person has left. The second way is to shut down a machine when the mat senses a person entering the cell, stopping all equipment.

UMA safety mats use single-piece molded PUR (polyurethane) to withstand chemicals and abrasion better than PVC. The durable construction withstands forklift traffic and heavy static loads. They are IP65 rated for wash down cleaning. The mats comply with North American safety standards, including ANSI/RIA 15.06, and also meet EN ISO 13849-1 (PLd/Safety Category 3) and EN ISO 13856-1.

Omron offers custom shapes and designs to fit the application. Below are brief instructions on how to fill out the form along with a blank layout form.
