DigiPyro® 1500 Series IR Pyroelectric Detecto

With significant reduction of supply voltage requirements, the low-power DigiPyro Gen2 1500 series marks the next generation of motion detection from Excelitas. The PYD 1588, PYD 1598, and PYQ 1598 DigiPyros operate at a low 1.8 V to 3.6 V, enabling more compact designs and prolonged service life in portable and battery operated smart devices. The DigiPyro 1500 series is an energy efficient upgrade to the well-established 1600 series and greatly enhances the capabilities of Excelitas industry-leading infrared detectors.

Equipped with a wake-up/sleep mode, the 1500 series promotes power savings and extends service life, making it ideal for prolonged battery operated motion detection. Detection is handled onboard by the low-power DigiPyro while the hosting microcontroller can be set into a power saving mode. Upon detection of motion, as per its programmed settings, the low-power DigiPyro signalizes the microcontroller to wake up.

PYD 1588, PYD 1598 DigiPyro
The PYD 1588 and PYD 1598 DigiPyro detectors represent the dual-element versions of the 1500 series, with the PYD 1598 being the top of the line product with large optical window making it the ideal element configuration for wall-mount motion sensing.

PYQ 1548 DigiPyro
The PYQ 1548 represents the quad-element version of the low-power DigiPyro Gen 2. This sensor offers the quad type element configuration with single output and significant reduction of supply voltage requirements, operating at 1.8 V to 3.6 V as PYD 15 types. All functionality of the PYQ 1548 is identical to the PYD 1588/1598 sensors: selectable band-pass function, selection of pulse count and wake-up/sleep mode promotes power savings and extends service life, making it ideal for prolonged battery-operated motion detection. The quad-element configuration makes this device best suited for ceiling-mount sensor applications.

Silicon Labs RF Evaluation and Development kit provides quick and convenient evaluation of the Excelitas 1500 Series DigiPyro Sensors in applications.
