ISL8274M Dual 30 A High Efficiency Digital PMBus D

Renesas' ISL8274M is a complete digital DC/DC dual channel step-down power module capable of delivering up to 30 A of current per channel and operating over an input voltage range of 4.5 V to 14 V. Supporting an adjustable output voltage from 0.6 V to 5 V, the ISL8274M offers full programmability on all operating parameters as well as a pin strapping capability to support zero programing operations. Full telemetry is supported through its PMBus interface while PowerNavigator support integrates this device into Intersil digital development eco system.

By providing a dual channel version, the digital power module portfolio is greatly enhanced to support various power train architectures specifically around FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers. The ISL8274M complements Renesas' single channel offering covering the 25 A to 80 A points-of-load and provides higher power density for multi rails applications.

Features and Benefits
  • 4.5 V to 14 V input voltage range with single supply operation
    • Wide input range allows the device to operate from industry standard single 5 V or 12 V input power rail, internally generating the required voltages for gate drive and control functionality and simplifying module placement and routing on a system board
  • Accurate output voltage
    • Supporting output voltages as low as 0.6 V and regulated within ±1% across line, load, and temperature, the device can power next generation cores requiring tight voltage tolerances
  • Complete protection scheme
    • Over/under protection schemes for input/output current, voltage, and temperature. Black box/snapshot feature logs fault and status parameters for abnormal conditions failure analysis and troubleshooting
  • Pin strap mode
    • External resistors set critical operating parameters requiring no programming for immediate operations. Dedicated enable, margining, and power good pins for full hardware control
  • Internal NVM
    • Multi-time programming capable internal non-volatile memory allows the device configuration to be saved into the module, saving numerous discrete components while offering the flexibility to have one device used for numerous rails in a system
  • Thermal efficiency
    • Thermally enhanced packaged allows greater thermal and heat dissipation providing cooler operations over a wider temperature range
Applications
  • Routers
  • Switches
  • Optical network transmission
  • Base-stations
  • Servers (including blade)
  • Storage
