The 32-bit MCU RX130 microcontrollers (MCUs) from Renesas Corporation integrate a built-in maximum 36-channel capacitive touch sensor. The current RX130 MCU portfolio has up to 128 KB on-chip Flash and 80 pins. By adding this expanding lineup with 512 KB Flash and 100-pin IC packages, customers can enhance their functionality for application and system controls. The capacitive touch sensor uses an improved detection method compared to previous products and therefore has vastly improved noise immunity, sensitivity, and operation in wet conditions. Thus, malfunctions have been reduced and touch keys can be applied to a variety of materials other than the typical acrylic or glass (such as wood). The RX130 touch feature is an ideal fit to consumer electronics products that are used in wet environments like the kitchen or bath.
The RX130 group has a lot of built-in functional safety hardware and can easily support the IEC/UL60730 safety standard for consumer electronics. The RX130 operates at a maximum voltage of up to 5.5 V. The hardware compatibility is even supported by the RX FIT (Firmware Integration Technology) Driver Package (RDP), which allows customers a seamless transition between products by using a common API to the provided low level drivers and application frameworks. The provided Workbench6 tool environment for capacitive touch control tuning provides improved sensitivity of capacitive touch design by using enhanced calibration functions. The RX130 MCUs are suitable for home automation, industrial, medical, and general purpose applications with touch panel function.
