DeepCover® Secure Authenticator Demonstration

Nearly every piece of technology in use today has some kind of embedded firmware, and rogue firmware can leak data and cause device malfunctions. Maxim’s MAXAUTHDEMO#1, featuring the DS28C36 DeepCover® secure authenticator, can easily and securely authenticate designs. The evaluation kit contains hardware and operates from a USB 2.0. The software GUI to easily and securely demonstrates the functional capabilities and use cases of DS28C36 in various designs. The software will operate on Windows® 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7 operating systems.

Maxim’s DS28C36 is a DeepCover Secure Authenticator that provides a core set of asymmetric-key and symmetric-key cryptographic security functions in a small, low-cost solution. Asymmetric public-key features are supported with the FIPS 186 P256-based elliptic-curve (ECC) algorithm and symmetric secret-key with FIPS 180/198 SHA-256 HMAC. In addition to the security services provided, the device integrates a FIPS/NIST true random number generator (RNG), 8 Kb of secured EEPROM, a decrement-only counter, two pins of configurable GPIO, and a unique 64-bit ROM identification number (ROM ID).
