Rosenberger's RoPD series utilizes a magnetic locking system with a perfect self-locating capability. The magnetic locking system helps provide a reliable connection, even for hard-to-reach positions and forced disconnection will not damage the connectors. The RoPD series was originally developed for the light electric vehicle (LEV) industry. They are especially suited for data communication and power transmission of voltages up to 48 V and current loads up to 40 A. The contact system consists of four data contacts and two power transmission pins. The system does not feature hot-plug capability because the data contacts enable the power contacts when correctly connected. The power contacts are based on a pin and socket principle, which balances out tolerances through contact springs, making it suitable for a high quantity of mating cycles. In the automobile industry, this power connection system has proved itself time and again. The four data contacts can be used as a BUS system with additional supply voltage.
