RECOM's RSP-168 surge protectors allow DC/DC converters to meet both RIA12 and NF F 01-510 surge immunity specifications and are certified for railway applications. There are three power options available: the RSP20-168 is suitable for up to 20 W, the RSP150-168 for up to 150 W, and the RSP300-168 for up to 300 W converters.

These surge protector modules were designed to protect railway DC/DC converters from excessive voltage surges of up to 385 V_DC. The output voltage tracks the input voltage up to 165 V_DC. If input voltage conditions rise above 165 V, the output voltage is then clamped resulting in the filtering of the input voltage and preventing damage to the converter.

These modules are simply connected in series with the input of the DC/DC converter to make the application compliant to both RIA12 and NF F 01-510 surge immunity specifications.
