USB Type-C™ and Power Delivery

STMicroelectronics' USB connectivity portfolio is designed to cope with various hardware/software partitioning solutions in order to best match customers' specific application requirements and design architecture. All ICs are manufactured using high-voltage technology and are naturally robust to high voltages to protect products from damage while guaranteeing user safety.

STUSB4500 stand-alone USB PD controller (with sink auto-run mode)

The STUSB4500 is a USB power delivery controller that addresses sink devices. It implements a proprietary algorithm to allow the negotiation of a power delivery contract with a source without MCU support (auto-run mode). PDO profiles are configured in an integrated non-volatile memory. The device supports dead battery mode and is suited for sink devices powered from dead battery state and requiring high power charging profile to be fully operational. Thanks to its 20 V technology, it implements high voltage features to protect the CC pins against short-circuits to VBUS up to 22 V and to support high voltage on the VBUS pins directly connected to the VBUS power path up to 28 V.

STUSB4710 stand-alone USB power delivery controller

STUSB4710 targets power-source applications such as AC adapters, power supplies, power hubs, smart plugs, and DC-DC applications. This IC integrates all the digital and high-voltage analog circuitry needed to autonomously support full USB PD negotiation. It supports up to five power data objects (PDO) and power-sharing applications thanks to its I²C interface.

STUSB1602 USB power delivery companion chip

STUSB1602 is high-voltage analog IC suitable for every MCU. It embeds an autonomous Type-C controller, USB PD TX/RX line driver and BMC transceiver, 600 mA VCONN switch, and VBUS switch gate driver as well as VBUS monitoring and 22 V short-to-VBUS protection features.

STUSB1600 USB Type-C controller (with short-to-VBUS protection)

The STUSB1600 is an IC controller, fully compliant with the USB Type-C cable and connector specification (rev. 1.2), which addresses 5 V USB Type-C port management both on the host and/or device side. It is designed for a broad range of applications and can handle the following USB Type-C functions: attach detection, plug orientation detection, host to device connection, VCONN support, and VBUS configuration. Thanks to its 20 V technology, it implements high voltage protection features against short-circuits to VBUS up to 28 V. The device supports dead battery mode and is fully customizable thanks to an integrated non-volatile memory.

STUSB4700 stand-alone USB PD controller (with short-to-VBUS protection)

The STUSB4700 is a new family of USB power delivery controllers communicating over Type-C configuration channel pins (CC) to negotiate a given amount of power to be sourced to an inquiring consumer device. The STUSB4700 addresses provider/DFP devices such as notebooks, tablets, and AC adapters. The device can handle any connections to a UFP or DRP without any MCU attachment support from device attachment to power negotiation including VBUS discharge and protections.
