Redundancy Modules Overview

In a redundant power supply system from PULS, two or more power supplies are connected in parallel and decoupled by one or more redundancy modules. The module prevents a defective device from becoming a load for the functioning devices while ensuring the system is reliably powered in all operating conditions.

Without a redundancy module, a short circuit in the output side of a power supply could affect the availability of the DC voltage, resulting in unplanned and costly downtime.

PULS offers a broad portfolio of efficient and reliable redundancy modules for a wide variety of application requirements.

Energy Efficient MOSFET and Cost-Optimized Diode Solutions

PULS DIMENSION YR20, YR40, and YR80 series redundancy modules utilize MOSFET technology for decoupling and isolation. MOSFET redundancy modules are the perfect solution for critical applications where separate power supplies need to be decoupled and isolated. The user benefits from a minimal voltage drop, lower heat generation, long service life, and low system costs.

The redundancy modules of the DIMENSION YR2 series, PIANO PIRD series, and MiniLine MLY series use diodes for decoupling and are ideal for building redundant power supply systems or to isolate sensitive circuits to increase reliability and availability of the DC voltage. Diode-based redundancy modules provide a cost optimized solution for redundancy.

Both MOSFET and diode-based redundancy modules can be utilized for 1+1 and n+1 redundancy applications.
