Molex off-the-shelf USB module kits have been developed to provide immediate availability for prototyping. As the IoT market grows, many device OEMs are looking to increase the number of sensors and USB ports in their systems to accommodate smart technology.
Many of the USB modules on the market are designed by chip manufacturers as a proof of concept for their customers. Their goal is to get customers to design in their chip for a PCB design, not to provide a quickly available and qualified module that would be ready for production runs. Molex USB modules are qualified and tested to run USB 2.0 protocols for prototyping all the way to production.
As IoT customers try to add more sensors into their devices, they are regularly constrained by the size of conventional USB modules. Molex USB modules offer a footprint smaller than competitors' by using a nonstandard-size USB connector. Therefore, the USB module PCB is smaller than the competition.
Prototyping USB modules requires engineering when they have to be built. Molex USB 2.0 module kits reduce engineering costs by providing a completed kit that has been tested and qualified to protocols.
