µClamp® TVS Diodes

Semtech's µClamp TVS diodes are designed to protect sensitive electronics from damage or latch-up due to ESD. They can replace 0201 sized multilayer varistors (MLVs) in portable applications such as cell phones, notebook computers, and other portable electronics. The diodes feature large cross-sectional area junctions for conducting high transient currents. These devices offer board-level protection including fast response time, low operating voltage, low clamping voltage, and no device degradation. The µClamp5011ZA features superior ESD protection such as a low typical dynamic resistance of 0.15 Ω, low-peak ESD clamping voltage, and a high ESD withstand voltage (±15 kV contact per IEC 61000-4-2). The low maximum capacitance (5 pF at VR=0 V) minimizes loading on sensitive circuits.

These diodes can protect one data line or powerline operating at 5 V. The leads are finished with NiAu. The µClamp5011ZA is available in an ultra-small, 2-pin SLP0603P2X3F package that measures 0.6 mm x 0.3 mm with a nominal height of 0.25 mm, enabling the flexibility to protect single lines in applications where arrays are not practical. The small package and high ESD surge capability make these diodes ideal for portable applications such as cellular phones, digital cameras, and tablet PCs.
