82579 Gigabit Ethernet PHYs
Intel's 82579 Gigabit Ethernet PHYs are single port Gigabit Ethernet Physical Layer Transceivers (PHY). They connect to the Intel 6 Series Express Chipset’s integrated Media Access Controller (MAC) through a dedicated interconnect. The 82579 supports operation at 1000/100/10Mb/s data rates. The PHY circuitry provides a standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet interface for 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 10BASE-T applications (802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab). The 82579 also supports the Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) 802.az specification. These are gigabit copper networking components for mobile, desktop, workstation, embedded and value-server designs that have critical space and power constraints.Learn More
