Current sinking capability is 24 mA at both the A and B ports. The Transmit/Receive (T/R#) input determines the direction of data flow through the bidirectional transceiver. Transmit (active-HIGH) enables data from A ports to B ports; Receive (active-LOW) enables data from B ports to A ports. The Output Enable input, when HIGH, disables both A and B ports by placing them in a HIGH Z condition.

***rchild Semiconductor: The MM74HCT245 3-STATE bi-directional buffer utilizes advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology and is intended for two-way asynchronous communication between data buses. It has high drive current outputs which enable high speed operation even when driving large bus capacitances. This circuit possesses the low power consumption of CMOS circuitry, yet has speeds comparable to low power Schottky TTL circuits. This device is TTL input compatible and can drive up to 15 LS-TTL loads, and all inputs are protected from damage due to static discharge by diodes to VCC and ground. The MM74HCT245 has one active low enable input (G#), and a direction control (DIR). When the DIR input is HIGH, data flows from the A inputs to the B outputs. When DIR is LOW, data flows from B to A. MM74HCT devices are intended to interface between TTL and NMOS components and standard CMOS devices. These parts are also plug-in replacements for LS-TTL devices and can be used to reduce power consumption in existing designs.

***rchild Semiconductor: The VHCT245A is an advanced high speed CMOS octal bus transceiver fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. It achieves high speed operation similar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining the CMOS low power dissipation. The VHCT245A is intended for bidirectional asynchronous communication between data busses. The direction of data transmission is determined by the level of the T/R input. The enable input can be used to disable the device so that the busses are effectively isolated. Protection circuits ensure that 0V to 7V can be applied to the input and output (Note 1) pins without regard to the supply voltage. These circuits prevent device destruction due to mismatched supply and input/output voltages. This device can be used to interface 5V to 3V systems and two supply systems such as battery back up.

***AS INSTRUMENTS INC: The ACT1284 devices are designed for asynchronous two-way communication between data buses. The control function minimizes external timing requirements.

***AS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED: The devices allow data transmission in either the A-to-B or the B-to-A direction for bits 1, 2, 3, and 4, depending on the logic level at the direction-control (DIR) input. Bits 5, 6, and 7, however, always transmit in the A-to-B direction.

***AS INSTRUMENT: The output drive for each mode is determined by the high-drive (HD) control pin. When HD is high, the high drive is delivered by the totem-pole configuration, and when HD is low, the outputs are open drain. This meets the drive requirements as specified in the IEEE 1284-I (level-1 type) and the IEEE 1284-II (level-2 type) parallel peripheral-interface specification.
