Power Integrations CapZero™ ICs block current flow in the X capacitor safety discharge resistors when AC voltage is applied, reducing the power loss to less than 5mW, or essentially zero at 230VAC. Power Integrations CapZero ICs automatically discharge X capacitors through discharge resistors when AC is disconnected. They simplify EMI filter design, have only two terminals improving safety standards, have <4 mm creepage on package and PCB and are self-supplied requiring no external bias.
