The circuit board used in the nal application should use RF circuit design techniques. Signal lines should have
50 ohm impedance while the package ground leads and backside ground slug should be connected directly to
the ground plane similar to that shown. A sufficient number of via holes should be used to connect the top and
bottom ground planes. The evaluation circuit board shown is available from Hittite upon request.

Note: The evaluation PCB for the HMC394LP4 contains
10K Ohm pull up resistors for each of the ve control inputs
A0 through A4. Programming the 31 distinct division ratios
consists of installing or removing jumpers S1 through S5, as
shown above. Jumper S6 must always be installed to provide
ground to pin 20.
