AS3956 RFID Transponders
ams AS3956 RFID Transponders are composed of NFC-A Analog Front End (AFE), NFC Type2 tag logic, EEPROM, SPI/I2C interface, and power supply manager block. These AS3956 transponders offer a power mode where VP_IO supply is switched to VP_INT whenever the RF field is present. The AS3956 RFID contains an embedded EEPROM module, that can be accessed via RF or SPI/I2C interface. The AS3956 RFID EEPROM contains 4096-bits (512-bytes) organized in 128 blocks of 4-bytes each. These RFID transponders communication between AS3956 and microcontroller is done via a four-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and an additional interrupt signal. The AS3956 transponders operate fully powered by RF field, without any external supply combined with an advanced energy harvesting feature. This greatly increases battery lifetime or even allows battery-less designs. Applications include NFC connection handover, equipment setup, service and configuration, firmware upgrades, activity and status logging, and wireless authentication.
