EFM32 Gecko

The EFM32 Gecko from Silicon Labs is an energy friendly 32-bit microcontroller for use in ultra-low power applications: energy, gas, water and smart energy metering, home and building automation, security, health and fitness equipment, and smart accessories for iPhone and Android systems. Such applications need to operate for as long as possible, even years, without external power and operator intervention.

Benchmarking against today's 'top 10' low power microcontroller devices, the EFM32 Gecko microcontroller has been proven capable of consuming a quarter of the energy required by 8-, 16-, or 32-bit alternatives. This can equate to extending the lifetime of a typical 3 V coin cell battery by at least 300%. Silicon Labs has built the EFM32 Gecko microcontroller around the 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 and ARM Cortex-M0 processor core. In summary the microcontroller is characterized by ultra-low active power consumption, reduced processing time, very fast wake-up time and ultra-low standby current.
