This flexible camera solution is an out-of-the-box development kit, built around the LPC1857 Cortex-M3-based MCU, providing everything your system needs to view the world around you.
This solution is adaptable to any 8-bit parallel camera modules with QVGA format. Included with the solution is a camera module that uses an 8-bit parallel output in RGB565 format with support for QVGA mode. The application is optimized for size and performance, and uses only eight percent of available CPU bandwidth. That means the LPC1857 can be programmed to perform a wide variety of additional functions, creating a complete system with a small, compact footprint.
The Flexible Camera Solution includes a Keil MCB1857 base board with camera module daughter board and an OV7670 camera module. The LPC1857 internal flash is preprogrammed with a QVGA camera interface that takes video input from the OV7670. This video is further streamed to the on- board LCD.
Adding camera functionality to a system opens up a wide range of imaging-related applications. Applications range from consumer applications like video-equipped toys and devices that support face detection to security for biometric authentication, door-bell cameras, or camera-based detection of fire or smoke, and even for industrial and manufacturing environments to enable automated inspection, parts sorting and identification, barcode reading and verification, and quality assurance functions such as detecting flaws, defects, or missing parts.
