The A8590 from Allegro MicroSystems is similar to the A8580, but it adds enhanced low dropout operation. When maximum duty cycle is reached (low V_IN / V_OUT ratio, for example during idle stop) the A8590 automatically switches at FSW/4 until V_IN rises again. Also, the A8590 increases the output current to 3.0 A (compared to 2.5 A for the A8580 and A8589). The A8590 also implements enhanced recovery from idle / stop start transients. The A8590 helps Allegro provide one of the industry’s most extensive wide V_IN automotive grade regulators.
