Near field communication (NFC) on smartphones performs better with higher transmitter power, obtained by boosting the battery voltage.

The NXP Semiconductors PCA9410UK family of DC-to-DC converters provides a higher output voltage with greater efficiency, low RF noise, and independent of battery charge state. Intended to complement the NXP NFC devices, this DC-DC boost converter can be used for any other power management application requiring 5.0 V or 5.25 V at up to 500 mA.
