739W-X2/50 utilizes the same panel cutout as Qualtek's popular 739W-X2/20 NEMA 5-20R outlet, so for existing applications this outlet can drop into place. However, it does provide an alternative wiring configuration. During installation, Qualtek's 739W-X2/50 line, neutral, and ground conductors feed through the side of the outlet versus Qualtek's 739W-X2/20 where the conductors are fed through the top of the outlet. This gives the customer different options to mount the receptacle up and down instead of left and right enabling the plug to sit differently in applications such as a power strip. Insulation displacement connections (IDC) eliminate the need for special tools and are designed to be used with 12 AWG solid copper conductors. The current capacity of this outlet is up to 20 A at 125 V_AC, and it is rated under the Component Recognition Program of Underwrites Laboratories, File No. E139605.
