By Vishay Semiconductor / Opto Division 286
Vishay's VCNL4020C combines an IR emitter, broad sensitivity photo diode and ambient light photo diode, a signal processing IC, and a 16-bit ADC in a compact 4.9 mm x 2.4 mm x 0.83 mm surface-mount package. The sensitivity of this sensor detects green, red, and infrared for wearable applications such as heart rate and SPO2 measurements.
The biosensor features an interrupt function and supports I²C bus communication interface. Along with its simplified window and sensor placement, it has a small outline and low height, which saves space in compact end products. This biosensor can be used with Vishay’s VLMTG1300-GS08 high-power green LED in a low-profile package for heart rate measurements, as well as with Vishay’s VSMD66694 dual LED with balanced radiant power at RED and IR wavelengths for pulse oximetry applications, which provides flexibility in device placement. Both the VLMTG1300-GS08 and VSMD66694 can be found at Digi-Key Electronics.
