Murata Electronics has released the PRG21 series (0805 size) and PRG18 series (0603 size) for overcurrent protection in automotive applications. Through the innovative use of ceramic materials, Murata has developed means to provide higher reliability circuit protection with quick protection after a short circuit occurs. This allows the engineer to make equipment safer and maintenance-free.
Compared with organic PTC elements and chip resistors with the same characteristics. The PRG series features the ability to withstand higher voltage and higher power capacity. Making it possible to reduce the chip size, thus reducing board space and equipment size.
