Intel® Joule™ Click Shields

MikroElektronika’s Intel Joule click SHIELD (MIKROE-256) is an extension for Intel Joule Expansion Board. This click shield allows more than 280 click boards™ to be added to a project. Displays, Wi-Fi, ZigBee or Bluetooth transceivers, Ethernet modules, sensors, MP3 codec circuit, and other features can be added to your project with ease. The Intel Joule click SHIELD board includes the MCP3204 ADC 4-channel 12-bit A/D converter with serial peripheral interface (SPI). The onboard ADC has a 2.048 V reference. The board also features 2 x 40 pin connectors. The expansion board is intended to breakout all I/O interfaces from the Intel Joule module into easily accessible connectors. Similar to the Intel Joule click shield, the MIKROE-2582 Intel Joule click SHIELD+ provide click board connectivity to the Intel Joule Expansion Board but with four mikroBUS™ sockets. The click boards come with examples written in MikroElektronika compilers to help provide a great base for future projects.

Both the Intel Joule click SHIELD and the Intel Joule click SHIELD+ include the Microchip MCP3204 A/D converter. The MCP3204 device is a 4-channel 12-bit A/D converter that communicates via SPI. This A/D converter also has on-board sample and hold circuitry features. The onboard ADC has a 2.048 V reference. The MCP3204 features 100 k samples/second, four input channels, and low power consumption, 5 nA typical standby, 400 µA maximum active. Applications for the MCP3204 include data acquisition, instrumentation and measurement, multi-channel data loggers, industrial PCs, motor control, robotics, industrial automation, smart sensors, portable instrumentation, and home medical appliances.
