MIKROE-1203 USB UART Click Boards™

The MikroElektronika MIKROE-1203 USB UART click is an accessory board in mikroBUS form factor that features the FTDI USB to UART interface FT232RL device and a MINI B USB connector. It is a compact and easy solution for adding serial UART communication via USB cable. USB MIKROE-1203 UART click communicates with target board via UART interface. The board is powered with 5 V power supply, but can be used with 3.3 V or 5 V I/O levels which are selectable via SMD jumper. It has a LED diode (GREEN) that indicates the presence of power supply. Transmission of data that is sent and received via USB is indicated by the RX and TX LED diodes on the board.

The FT232R is a USB-to-serial UART interface integrated circuit. This IC has an optional clock generator output, and the FTDIChip-ID™ security dongle feature. Asynchronous and synchronous bit bang interface modes are available. USB to serial interface design has been simplified by fully integrating the external EEPROM, clock circuit, and USB resistors into the device.
