MIKROE-2756 Pi 3 Click Shield™

The MIKROE-2756 Pi 3 Click Shield from MikroElektronika is an extension board for the Raspberry Pi 3 model B. This shield has two Click Board™ sockets that give users access to over 300 Click Boards. Software examples are available from Libstock, giving users a repository of working code for rapid prototyping. The MIKROE-2756 shield is also compatible with the Pi 1 model, Pi 1 B+ model, and the Pi 2 B model as well.

The MIKROE-2756 shield also features the MCP3204 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Microchip Technology. The MCP3204 combines high performance and low power consumption in a small package, making it ideal for embedded control applications. The MCP3204 features a successive approximation register (SAR) architecture and an industry-standard SPI™ serial interface, allowing 12-bit ADC capability to be added to any PICmicro® microcontroller. The MCP3204 features 100k samples/second, four input channels, low power consumption (5 nA typical standby, 400 µA max. active), and is available in 14-pin PDIP, SOIC, and TSSOP packages. Applications for the MCP3204 include data acquisition, instrumentation and measurement, multi-channel data loggers, industrial PCs, motor control, robotics, industrial automation, smart sensors, portable instrumentation, and home medical appliances.

The MIKROE-2756 also includes the TXB0106PWRG4 translator IC from Texas Instruments. This 6-bit noninverting translator uses two separate configurable power-supply rails. The A port is designed to track VCCA. VCCA accepts any supply voltage from 1.2 V to 3.6 V. The B port is designed to track VCCB. VCCB accepts any supply voltage from 1.65 V to 5.5 V. This allows for universal low-voltage bidirectional translation between any of the 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V voltage nodes. VCCA should not exceed VCCB.
