Graphene at Digi-Key

Digi-Key is partnering with Kennedy Labs to offer graphene and other two dimensional (2D) materials to academic, industrial, and research customers looking to harness these disruptive technologies and deliver new functionality, miniaturization, gain efficiency, and lower cost in new product designs and systems.

Kennedy Labs is a manufacturer of 2D materials, heterostructures, and products enhanced by them, such as conductive inks, pastes, epoxies, and lubricants. Through their partnership, Kennedy Labs and Digi-Key bring mono, bi, and tri layer CVD graphene films on copper, silicon, quartz, flexible plastic, and suspended on grids, along with various kinds and grades of graphene powders such as graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), and graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) to the market. Gallium oxide on sapphire and graphene on hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) on silicon substrates are available now and new 2D materials are being added as they become available.

2-D Basics: Materials for Designing the Future

In their simplest form, 2D materials are single atom layers of a particular material. Graphene, a single atomic layer of graphite, was the first such 2D to be discovered, but many other 2D materials have been discovered since then. Because of their atomic sizes, 2D materials possess amazing properties that their bulk forms do not, and they will help to usher in a new age of cutting-edge performance and miniaturization benefits to microelectronics. For example, graphene is the thinnest and lightest material known with incredible strength coming in around 300 times stronger than steel. It is also the best man-made thermal conductor and has a conductive density 1,000,000 times greater than copper.

Kennedy Labs' partnership with Digi-Key has allowed them to bring the highest quality graphene development products in a range of sizes, substrates, and forms to the market. With readymade graphene on different substrates such as copper, quartz, poly, and silicon, designers can jump right in to the world of 2D material development. Kennedy Labs also offers graphene in other forms and compounds as well. For example, graphene infused ink, thermal grease, powder, thermal spreading substrates, and pastes for user enjoyment and thermal experimentation. Stay tuned for more to come from Kennedy Labs.
