SSW Series Detect Switch

C&K’s SSW115S is a next-generation switch that will enable customers to improve functional safety in their electronic systems. The switch is defined by several key features including redundancy, self-failure detection, and lack of bistability with controlled switching time.

The SSW detect switch is valuable for automotive industry applications, such as electric parking brakes (EPB), which require functional safety in accordance with ISO 26262, an automotive-specific international standard that focuses on safety critical components, and any other applications using low-level signals. In addition to complying with automotive standards, the SSW detect switch is IP67 sealed and mechanically and electrically stable with the durability to withstand extreme operating temperatures and conditions.

For easy integration into applications, the design of the SSW detect switch considers SMD compliance and tape and reel packaging, switching travel compatibility with products existing on the market, possible horizontal actuation by a cam, low-level switching (5 V, 1 mA), and low acoustics. Using cam actuation, the switch enables short travel of mobile contacts, providing a fast switching time (<15 ms). The advanced, patented design ensures that contacts are working in one direction only in controlled distances, resulting in low-stress and constant contact pressure. Some of the benefits this creates are accurate and repeatable switching heights, high life expectancy of 300,000 cycles under harsh environmental stress conditions, and stable contact resistance.
