USB Type-C connectors and USB power delivery are rapidly being adopted by the mobile handheld industry. Toshiba delivers power switches, data MUX, and ESD protection diodes require by today's new technologies.

Power Switches: Now that devices are powered by USB power delivery and QuickCharge, systems are seeing higher and higher voltages than before. A 100 W charging system delivers 20 V/5 A through, which means that a 30 V tolerant switch will be needed. Toshiba provides low-resistance 30 V switches, including Pch MOSFETs as well as IC switches that provides overvoltage protection and slew rate control.

Data Switch: Because USB Type-C features a reversible connector, an SPDT data MUX might be required to correctly transmit and receive data at the right pins. Toshiba offers a mobile 10 Gbps data MUX, which helps switch high-speed signals, such as USB 3.1 and HDMI. Solutions for low-speed SPDT switches for USB 2.0 are also available.

ESD Protection: USB ports are vulnerable to ESD damage. ESD protection diodes are robust and effective solutions for stopping expensive RMAs caused by ESD damage. High-speed signals will require low capacitance ESD and Toshiba has some of the industry’s best ESD diodes.
