Cirrus Logic's CS4244 are 24-bit, 96 kHz audio codecs with four multi-bit delta sigma analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and four multi-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and are comparable with the differential inputs and either differential or single-ended outputs. In differential mode, the DACs achieve dynamic range of 109 dB and the ADCs perform at 105 dB. The CS4244 supports digital volume control, noise gating, and muting for each of the four DAC output paths. Each ADC input features a selectable high-pass filter.

These codecs are operated in either master or slave mode and support the conventional left-justified, and I²S (PCM) digital interface modes of operation as well as TDM. Each DAC path includes digital volume control, noise gating, and muting. A selectable high-pass filter is provided for the four ADC inputs. The CS4244 supports master and slave modes and TDM, left-justified, and I²S modes. It is available in a 40-pin QFN package in automotive (-40°C to +105°C) and commercial (-40°C to +85°C) temperature grades.

The TDM-mode is popular with automotive and professional audio users which allows the system designer to pack multi-channel audio data on a single line which minimizes the number of data lines that have to be connected between the codec and digital signal processing (DSP). All devices have an aux port that allows the user to add an external ADC and take additional advantage of the TDM-mode.
