Emissions compliance failure, which typically happens during the last stage of product development, can result in unplanned troubleshooting efforts and costly production delays. SiTime's spread spectrum family of MEMS oscillators solves EMI problems by offering two techniques for compliance: spread spectrum clocking and rise/fall time adjustment of the clock signal. Additionally, the SiT9005 is supported by SiTime’s Time Machine II™ programmer which allows engineers to instantly program spread modulation and/or drive strength to quickly reduce emissions levels.
By leveraging SiTime's unique DualMEMS™ temperature sensing and TurboCompensation™ technology, the spread spectrum family of products delivers very stable timing in the presence of environmental stressors such as air flow, temperature perturbation, vibration, shock, and electromagnetic interference (EMI). These devices also integrate multiple on-chip regulators, providing power supply noise filtering and eliminating the need for a dedicated external LDO. Spread spectrum oscillators can be factory-programmed to any combination of frequency, stability, voltage, and pull range. This programmability enables designers to optimize the clock configuration while eliminating the long lead time and customization cost associated with quartz TCXOs where each frequency is custom built.
